First london post! (oops) have a backlog of posts from both SG & London and will slowly get round to writing everything up bec I now have plenty of time on my hands (okay not really but rate of trying new places is slowly starting to stagnate ): )
C & I made our way down to Dinerama last Friday! Been super excited for this (& tried to jio 1000 people in the meantime) bec it's really a concentration of amaaazing London street food
First up - YUM BUN! I had this list of vendors I had to try but I had no idea how amazing everything else was and I would have spent the entire night eating if it wasn't for my tiny appetite wallet #studentproblems
So we got one pork bun (£4 for 1, £7 for 2) to share btw the two of us because we had to save space for more food ): honestly wish I got more (partly because 2 buns makes a much better photo than this lonely bun). But anyway this was pretty good! I liked how the pork was just crispy on the outside and very much juicy and fatty. But this was also just like any gua bao I could get back home and I felt like there was a bit too much hoisin sauce? Which covered the Essence Of Roasted Pork Belly I was trying to taste.
Next up was SMOKESTAK! I saw this at Winter Wonderland and wanted to get it but I ended up trying Le Bun there instead (more on that next time maybe) + menu's more extensive here!
Heard wonders about their beef brisket (brisket bun, £8) so I had to get it! And this was WORTH IT and totally lived up to the hype. Honestly you can imagine how it tastes by just looking at that. I need that. Now. This was juicy, tender, flavourful, and just everything it is meant to be.
Wings that we didn't get, but heard lots about as well - definitely worth a try (& would really warrant a return visit but I can't seem to find anyone to go with again ugh)
And then. This happened.
PACHOS (£5) from Baba G's! Didn't expect to get anything here but the fries jumped out at me! But C doesn't eat fries, so I saw the pachos on the display and...
o m g thank god we got this? I really really really love papadums and this was like some mad LEVEL UP version of it. Pachos > Nachos!! (ok maybe not i gotta rethink that statement but this was that good you feel me?) There was onion relish, mango chutney, chilli pickle and all sorts of wonderful things that topped the poppadom chips (which are indian thin crisps that have a certain spice kick). Think we pretty much licked this clean
Then we moved to dessert! Which was another thing I really had my eyes on bec DOUGHNUTS. I have this huge doughnut obsession now?
This sounded pretty cool but
We got these instead!! Salted caramel donuts (Large, £5) with Brandy Butter Ice Cream (+£2). Ultimate comfort food!!! Pretty glad I paid the extra £2 for the ice cream because it was yummy and went really well w the hot doughnuts, which were not too oily and not too sweet (but obviously still sweet - don't expect anything less this is unhealthy food) and the whole combination here was just perffff.
Couple of other places that we didn't get to try but looked just as amazing! There was lasagne fritters & poutine etc
So sorry to the guy I snapped mid-eating but those ribs look so guuuuddd??
Will be back, dinerama.
