HELLO! Back from another extremely long hiatus and I know I haven't finished my Italy travelogue and I promise I'll get round to it soon, but here's my most recent trip to Copenhagen! Here YT forays into her first ever solo trip and suffice to say I had an amazing 3 days eating and walking (avg 26km a day that's pretty sickkkk)

Landed in the morning (?) at about 11am and took the train to Copenhagen city centre! I stayed at Urban Hostel near the main train station and everything was in walking distance (: Nobody really checks your ticket on trains and stuff but I still bought everything because #integrity heh. Had my first meal at Aamanns for some smorrebrod (open faced sandwiches) at 65kr it's kinda expensive but everything in copen is expensive so I was still v happy hehe! It was pretty good not to mention extremely purddyyyy

Taking the walk (30min away) to Aamanns brought me to another train station oopsss this Osterport! Decided since I was already in the area I would check out Kastellet and the Little Mermaid

Copenhagen is really a bike-friendly city and there are sooo many bikes everywhere! Really wanted to bike but then no money/too much time so walking it was

Ok it's really just a tiny statue and I can't think why everyone is obsessed with this - I really just went because I was already there not because I find it awe-inducing in any way

Popped into Meyers Bageri because it was in my list of bakeries to try, but it really didn't make sense to get a huge loaf of bread for just one person (really the biggest problem of solo travelling) so I got a small rugbar for 15kr and unfortunately I didn't like it that much! probably my own fault for picking a flavour I didn't like but the nuts + yeast + date + rye combination was kinda strange to me

See it's sights like these that make it totally ok to walk for hours on end. That and the amazing weather (really can't even walk 15mins in Singapore?!)

And then stopped for some cheesecake at Bertels Salon which is apparently very famous and even though they don't accept cash (what!) I still had to get one to try (and pay extra bec overseas credit card!) - this was 48kr per slice and they had soooo many flavours I really couldn't choose

Ended up picking pistachio bec I find it v hard to refuse pistachio stuff but really should've gotten something more normal in a cheesecake... what was I thinking?! Still it was very nice and light and I LOVE cheesecake crusts ugh. Demolished a slice myself very easily and felt like an absolute fatty

Didn't actually go into Tivoli even though I walked past it every day because it seemed kinda small and .. lame? Forgive me pls but #budgetlife #studentlife and going into an amusement park alone just seemed a bit too ... loner even for me haha

And danish architecture is just?! ?! everywhere I go its like ?! where do they get these IDEAS

Copenhagen Central station!

Then walked all the way to norrebro because I wanted to check out Kiin Kiin - I didn't have a reservation, but I wanted to ask about availabilities so I went there went they just opened!

And while waiting for them to open, I went to Assistens Kirkegard which is a cemetery where Hans Christian Anderson's tomb is. It's really all very pretty and serene so I sat there for quite a bit! I did manage to get my table at Kiin Kiin but that really deserves a post on its own!

Decided to walk to Nyhavn (yes, that harbour that everyone comes to copenhagen for a shot of) to catch the sunset. Then realised that sun sets at like 930pm? 10pm? Forget it this is plenty pretty enough

Ok so these are the million-dollar shots.

Very pretty indeed I understand the hype now

See some people were picnicking randomly on boats that were unused and it looked like such! fun! (if only I had friends) (nah I was very very happy to be wandering alone at my own time and pace and eating whatever I wanted to at this point)

Passed by a great deal of palaces? museums? historical buildings? on my way home but really I barely remember what's what, I can only say that every corner I turned was a new sight I was plenty happy to see

Woke up the next morning for breakfast at Mad & Kaffe! was super excited about this (there's also another brunch place that has the system that is supposedly the original and is supposedly very good but I didn't go there so Too Bad and you're going to have to listen to me talk about this place instead) because the pictures are so purdyyy (yes pretty food is very important to me clearly). I got the 5 item set + mango chai latte and I picked 1. Homemade granola w blueberry yogurt 2. Poppy seed pastry 3. Cinnamon swirl 4. Scrambled egg with mushrooms and chives 5. Smoked salmon with cream cheese and dill

Individually every component is quite normal, but just eating them all together for breakfast is like WOW this is how breakfasts should be. + everyone working there was young and good-looking so plus points heh heh. Unfortunately poor waiter charged me less (he keyed in the 3-item set instead of 5) so I am Very Sorry!! But secretly very happy oops

Then walked to Torvehallerne because I was free and I wanted to check it out, but was too full and too broke (I set myself a budget and I didn't want to have to change more money) to eat more. It looked absolutely lovely though and I almost came back here! Really love these kind of concepts - like markets with food stalls and chill dining areas and fresh produce ahhh

Botanical Gardens! The glasshouses were really pretty sigh and even though I have limited interests in plants and botany the buildings are just charming

And this was at the Rosenborg Castle Gardens! Flowers were so pretty

After this I had a long intense stroll all the way to Amager beach (which is a newly developed area with a man-made beach!) to just chill there but I strangely didn't take any photos? not the most amazing beach ever + it was kinda windy but chill time is good time and I had the loveliest mass at St Anne's church in Amagerbro afterwards so it was really worth the walk

Then had dinner at Papiroen aka Copenhagen Street Food! My fav kind of food haha kinda like what I thrive on in London (and equally expensive) - was so torn between getting what looks good and what is authentic and traditional

But then saw this pulled pork burger and... I couldn't resist heh (80kr). EVERYTHING there looked good though so you probably can't go wrong. The pork was really amazing though but it did get messy and the sauce was kinda concentrated at the top but ok that's really just me being picky

And then saw some cheesecakes and.. WHO CAN SAY NO??? Cookie crumble topping and I have to say THIS is how I like my cheesecake - rich and heavy and cheesy and fat - so much so that I struggle to finish it, but I finish it anyway because its sooo goooddddd

And when dinner comes with a view (':

My last day on my solo trip must begin with another good breakfast, so this time I walked to bageri Brod (which is actually near Mad & Kaffe, and I did want to go the day before but didn't manage to)

I got the sweet bun and the croissant! Both were yummy and the bun was so fluffy sigh I'm getting hungry right nowww. Also had a free sample of a rhubarb and something? I can't remember? cake and it was just AMAZING I would totally get that instead if I went back again.

Then had a snack of aeggsalat (egg salad) from a supermarket bec someone told me to try it? Its pretty cool it's like egg mayo except not really cos its better, but it did get a bit salty (then again I did end up eating it on its own oops)

And I HAD to try a hotdog so I'm very glad I did, and I'm glad I got the one from DOP (right beside the Rundetaarn) this was so satisfying - I liked the onion relish and the fried onion esp (but in the great Hot Dog World Cup... Iceland beats Denmark)

Then took a train to malmo! Which is in Sweden and is only like half an hour away from Copenhagen so it's all super cool its linked by the Oresund bridge

Went to St Peters church because it was the first sight that I randomly stumbled upon haha and it's quite lovely (-: I don't think I'll ever get sick at just gazing at churches while I'm overseas

Welcome to malmo, land of Parks, Parks and more Parks

They really are all very pretty though - this is Kungsparken? Slottstradgarden? by Malmo castle and this was my favourite he he

And I mastered the art of self timer shots (& tried very hard to be discreet and not get judged by people walking into my photo past)

Then explored the western harbour of malmo where the Turning Torso (that strange building in the background) is. This area is really cool because it's only been developed relatively recently, so the planning style, architecture is very different from the rest of the city! It's pretty much sustainable (or will be completely sustainable very soon) so that's all good - but everything was so designed - even the common spaces or recreational areas. Really eye opening about the stuff people think about when they plan out urban spaces

And then I found a hammock. And proceeded to lie there for about half an hour. Because who can get up?!

Made my way to Ribersborg beach, where there was an outdoor swimming pool at the back of a restaurant which has a bath, spa etc and was so cool? but I didn't go in bec no money and no balls (I didn't change any swedish money and I didn't have much DKK left anyway sooo I was pretty much #budget in malmo) But sat around the beach finishing up my bread, watched people do mass aerobics? and before long it was time to walk back to the station to take my train back to Copenhagen Airport.

I don't think I'll be back any time soon, but I do love the place and the food, and I'm so glad I chose this as my virgin solo trip experience. (Also glad it was just 3 days because any more alone time and I would've gone cray crayyy)
